This book is the perfect gift for anyone who is considering taking on a Japenese Akita. From describing the characteristics (which it does in great detail), choosing the right dog for your household and keeping the Akita happy, this book tells it how it really is. With great diagrams, colour pictures and important information, this book is a great "beginner's guide to Akitas". The only draw back I would say is that it is very much designed for an American audience, but then any information you get before taking on such an animal is well worth the read!

Described my akita down to a tee! Great tips, advice etc and the pictures are amazing. Its quite a small book but crammed full of akita advice!

We purchased this book as we were considering an Akita as a pet. The only downside to it is that it is aimed more at the American Akita as opposed to the Japanese. However, it is very informative and a good read if you want some more information on this particular breed.
