One of the best upgrades you can get for a computer. I would prefer it if the USB cable ended in a single plug, I would prefer it if the plastic USB pin was black like the ones on my case and I would prefer it if there was a white mark on the dials so I could see their setting. Those are my only small criticisms. From Noctua's and Scythe Gentle Typhoons to cheap no name case fans, they all sound better when you turn them down a notch. This is a cheap well designed way to do it. It requires one molex power connection and powers 3 three pin fans.

Great product for filling a spare 3.5 inch bay (usual mounting) and simetaneously adding 2 USB ports. I control the front fan and 2 rear fans using this control unit. The dials only protrude by about 1cm so they can be used in a case with a door. I regulary use mine and the metal construction feels durable and long lasting. The colour is gloss black and is a perfect complement to my black pseudo server style case.

What a great product, and up to the usual Akasa quality standard. For me, I wanted the ability to control two of my 4 fans, so I now have one spare controller for future use if I need it. My fans are now running much quieter with no increase in cpu or system temperature. The two USB 2.0 ports are brilliant. They work well. However I agree a single block USB plug at the motherboard end would be better than the eight single little plugs as mentioned in earlier posts. The instructions do not cover the fitting of these plugs. However, it does use standard wiring and colours (as outlined in your motherboard manual) and is NOT difficult to fit if you just check the wiring colours in your existing USB plug interfaces if, that is, you find reading the manual a chore. Each cable and plug on the Akasa unit is labelled. Just make sure you get the + and - connectors in the correct positions (motherboard manual again can tell you). It's easy. One other point...most motherboards now come with a spare USB block plug, labelled and ready to take the 8 separate USB cable connectors on this unit if you want to use it (you don't have to). Or you can buy one from Maplins. My Asus motherboard came with this feature. So anyone that is put off by the comments in other reviews here really shouldn't be. It quality, it's good, it works! Get one. Thanks to amazon and it's partners for this good service.

It arrived speedily and was packaged well. However the instructions are DIRE. They may as well not have bothered providing any, they were written in very broken English and provided very little information. which is a shame on Akasa because their products usually have very good, clear instructions, which is one of the reasons I gave the item 4*s

Installing it in my Antec 300 case required a bracket because it doesn't have an external 3.5" port, so I used a Startech 3.5" bracket, which doesn't quite match the Akasa's attractive glossy front but it does the job. Once I'd got it into the case, I ran into my first real snag (which is where the lack of instructions really became problematic), the USB header. For reasons completely unbeknownst to me, they've provided a proper, fixed header at one end, and at the other, the header is all divided up into the separate pins. Installing these with instructions would be tricky enough because they're so fiddly, but without you basically have to make an educated guess as to which pin goes where on your motherboard. I tried four different configurations (one of which completely prevented my computer from booting at all), none of which worked, so I gave up and cut my losses for the two USB ports and don't bother using them. So if you're buying this particular product especially for the fact that it also has USB ports, I'd suggest having a few second thoughts about it.

Except for this, though, the controller is great. I have three incredibly noisy "silent" LED fans connected to it and it's dramatically reduced the turbulence that created all the noise. Of course, it hasn't eliminated the noise, but there is a very noticeable difference.

Simple to set up, simple to use. Doesn't look like it's from star trek but for the price it really cannot be beaten. After several months I have had no problems whatsoever.

So using this in a coolermaster 430 elite case (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Master-Elite-430-supply/dp/B003O8J11E) the fan controller wobbles up and down and doesnt fit well. Reason being that it would only sit flush with the actual case if you use more than one screw hole. To get this to sit flush with the plastic fascia the fan controller isn't long enough and only one locater screw can be used so it pivots up and down. Not really noticable to look at, but when you try and plug a USB in it becomes more than apparent.
As well as that, I am also currently getting an error with the 2nd USB. Everything works fine in the top USB but errors in the bottom. Very strange.
The single pins for the mobo end of USB cable is a little bit of an odd choice, a USB plug would have done fine surely? Fan controls work well and simple to connect. To answer the chap who said he would like some "white lines" to see where the fans are set, the controller I have has an indent on each dial which showswhere it is set. So unless you wanted a white line so it was more visible, I'd say this does the job.
As it stands, a 3* product as there are some problems but it is only £11 after all.
