I bought these cables to replace cheaper cables that kept working their way loose (not sure if it was the motherboard end or the drive end). These Akasa cables make a satisfying click when connecting them, and stay securely in place. Some reviewers have commented that these cables are too wide at the drive end - I managed to get them in (try disconnecting the power lead first then reconnect when the data cable is in).
I had a problem with one of my drives - the right-angled end was the wrong way for my drive bracket. If you look at the plug with the cable coming from the bottom, the plug looks like this: --¬ (with the notch on the right hand side).
Not much you can write about a SATA III cable really, only that it is a good length and easily allows me to connect my SATA III WD hard drives to my GA-P67A-UD7-B3 motherboard. I like the fact that the cables are rounded - not going to make a huge difference in terms of internal airflow, but it is a nice touch nonetheless. I like Akasa's stuff in general, I have a couple of their external hard drive caddies too, and they are of good quality.
I bought this product to go in my custom built pc that i have just bought a hard drive for.
The product does the job, but there is some heavy cable reinforcement where the cable meets the plug, and it can be quite difficult to fit in restrictive spaces. It just so happens that the frame of my hard drive rack is less than 5cm away from the front of my SATA ports. Because of the heavy reinforcement the plug is a lot longer than it has to be, and therefor is difficult to fit in cirten situations. I give it 3 stars because it works great but could have been designed more compactly, as most PC cases are restrictive spaces... Most Recent Customer Reviews
Too wide
The cable connector is too wide, resulting in a SATA power cable not being able to plug in next to it on all of my devices (HDDs and Blu Ray drive).

Works fine
You might wonder if you can use the speed of SATA 3 - but that is a different discussion - this connects OK, price is OK and it works as it should.

Too Wide
This cable itself it good quality but cannot be used as it is too wide at the 90 degree end and will not fit along side the sata power connection. Very disapointed

Do only the Chinese make stuff like this now?
It's a cable.
It's supposed to plug in at each end and work, yes? Well, if you've been looking for these things, you've probably only managed to find Akasa, right? Read more
