I had to change CPU cooler as I installed some more RAM and my old cooler half covered memory slot 1 on my main board - this is smaller than the cooler I had before so does not interfere with the nearest memory slots on the motherboard. It performs well for its size. Temperatures are ranging from 41ºC and the maximum I have had is 61ºC - this is with the pre-applied thermal paste that comes with the cooler - you can see this on the cooler near the start of the video.

I have not overclocked my PC and do not use it heavily for gaming - these are the temperatures I'm getting with normal every day casual use. I'll change the thermal paste and update on the temperatures at a later date if anyone is interested.

The fan is very quiet - which is always a plus.

As you can see the cooler is very easy to install - it took me less than a minute - although I did miss out the removal of the old cooler and cleaning of the CPU. So 5 minutes tops.

I would definitely recommend it for general PC use. I wouldn't say it was a cooler for overclocking and working under constant heavy load - however I'm happy with it, its quieter and performs better than the stock AMD cooler. Hope this helps. Any questions fire away :-)

This product is perfect for AMD's. So easy to fit due to the connector that comes with it. Also, easy to take the fan off to rid the heat sink of dust bunnies. One year on and it still works as new, very reliable, CPU temp mid 30's (but the pc isn't used for gaming or overclocking). Air intake is good, a soft vortex can be felt with hand infront of the fan. As for noise output, there is none. It doesnt take alot of space up and the 9cm fan is elevated up which leaves plenty of space from the DDR2 memory on the mother board. Materials are of a nice quality (doesnt feel or look cheap). Highly recomended item, and cheap too!

I bought this heatsink and fan Akasa AK-860SF CPU cooler AMD Socket 754/939/940/AM2 mainly because it came with pre-applied heatsink paste.

I had fitted a 2nd hand Athlon 64 x2 4400 CPU into my Abit Fatal1ty AN8SLI motherboard (Socket 939); however, I was not confident that I had applied the heatsink paste evenly enough, when re-fitting my original AMD heatsink. Although the CPU did not appear to be getting overly hot (max I could get it to was 58c), I decided to investigate other options, that gave me more confidence of a long life for my CPU. I am not a gamer so have no need to overclock and therefore was not going to spend a fortune on some super dooper cooling system.

This heatsink and fan was £9.01 from Amazon, and with the pre applied paste, seemed a suitable candidate. I ordered using the free postage option and it arrived within 2 days. There are no fitting instructions, but the design is similar to the AMD heatsink, and in fact it was easier to fit than the AMD. At first I thought the metal clips were too far apart to clip on to the motherboard, but it was just possible to hold both clips in place by hand; I did this and applied the cam lever and the heatsink sat nice and secure on the CPU. Unlike the stock AMD unit, there was no having to push clips down with a screwdriver, risking slipping and damaging the motherboard. After fitting this unit I again have got the CPU up to 58c, but it idles at around 30c, much the same as the AMD. I am quite happy with this heatsink. I can't claim it is any more efficient or quieter than the stock AMD heatsink used with Athlon 64 CPUs; but it is certainly equally efficient and no noisier.

Overall, It gave me what I wanted; a heatsink as good as the original, with the confidence that the heatsink compound was correctly applied and at a very good price.

Thermal paste already applied and easily installed with the clips.

Heatsink performs the same as the original AMD one, however please note this is a 3 pin, therefor the motherboard cannot influence the RPM, that's only possible with a 4 pin. This one runs full blast at about 2000 / 2200 rpm.

I've got a dual core, slightly overclocked and can't get the temperature past about 40 / 45 odd (celcius) under load, so no problem there.

I personally don't think this fan would be good for a 4 or 6 core because of the extra heat, especially when you're into overclocking.

Cheap, easy to install, does the job just as good as what it replaced.

Mine came with thermal compound pre-applied, I bought this to upgrade a noisy stock fan & heatsink for an AM2 Athlon 64 x2 4400+, and boy what a difference! The stock fan on the old heatsink was going flat out at 5500rpm (after attaching it to a new motherboard with a 4 pin socket, no speed control), this one runs at approx 2200rpm, (note it has a 3 pin plug also) but keeps it a whole 7 degrees cooler constantly, 23 dergees idle and 30 degrees under load, as apposed to 30/37 previously, and so much quieter. Its also nicely put together, a fair bit bigger and heavier than the stock heatsink, and very easy to fit. Highly recommended.

During a pc upgrade I wanted a meatier cooling assembly, the reviews here and a reply from Akasa led me to believe that the 860sf was more than up to the task, err, no it was'nt, within 10 minutes my pc had to be turned off, as the temperature just kept rising.

It does come in a nice little cardboard box and it is very quick and easy to fit, heat compound is already on the bottom of the heatsink, so fitting is'nt a problem, in the end I simply bought a meatier 7cm cpu/case fan on a well known auction site and used my original heatsink.
