Ever since reading this book I've not been able to look at my "springer" in the same way. If you thought that air compressed by the spring is the only thing that gives the pellet its muzzle energy then you, like I was, are wrong.

If you want to understand your spring powered air rifle, find out the importance of lubrication, understand the unique recoil of a springer and why they can eat scopes alive you must get this book.

This book contains so many gems it's hard to know where to start. A little bit technical.

The Cardews, father and son, had an insatiable curiosity regarding the operation of springer air rifles. Over an extended period they performed an extraordinary suite of experiments in order once and for all to explain the workings of air rifles. I learned more from reading this book than from all of the other things I had read. You will credibly be able to claim that you are an expert after perusing this book. I have used mine to settle arguments amongst people who believed the old wives tales readily heard at the range. It has a permanent place in my range box.

A first book to buy 7 Mar 2003
Format:Paperback
This book is superb, it covers spring guns & pnuematics in rifle & pistol. It deals with lubrication, what happens during the firing cycle, really in depth technical formulae & spark photography as the pellet exits the muzzle. Well worth getting a copy.
