Product Description

The Avro Vulcan is a delta wing subsonic jet bomber that was operated by the Royal Air Force from 1953 until 1984. The Vulcan was part of the RAF's V bomber force, which fulfilled the role of nuclear deterrence against the Soviet Union during the Cold War. It was also used in a conventional bombing role during the Falklands conflict with Argentina. The last airworthy Vulcan, XH558 has been restored to flying condition by the 'Vulcan to the Sky' Trust after a number of years of effort and fundraising. The first post-restoration flight, which lasted 34 minutes took place on 18 October 2007. It is now used in display flights and commemoration of the employment of the aircraft in the Falklands Conflict.

If you're buying this then it's safe to say you know what you are getting. What was amazing was the item turned up after a day! Very, very quick dispatch and a bargain price! This is a good model of a very imposing aircraft that holds an important place in history made by the legend that is Airfix. Get your kids off the XBox and Playstation, sit them down and build this with them (or any model kit with them)!

Excellent model and easy to make although the paints and brushes supplied are woefully inadequate for this model , the paints are watery and in such small quantities to be laughable for a model of this size. The best thing to do is to buy oil-based enamel paints and decent size brushes or you'll not be able to complete your project. Once completed the problems with the paint and brushes are forgotten when you have a model worthy of the hours spent assembling it.

the vulcan is a cool, Big and fun kit. it is reasonably good value. recomended for experienced modelers. some use of filler is needed for the wings but overall gives good finished results ;)

The venerable Airfix kit re-released. I'm pleased to say that the kit still has the blue steel missile. The kit was purchased at a reasonable price so it's worth spending extra money on upgrades. All in all a happy purchase.

My husband loved it and found it fun to do. I would recommend this to people who are interested in airfix but haven't had much experience doing it.

This is a big model, but some of the parts are tiny. It says in the instructions "Not suitable for children under 36 months." - It took me two hours just to build the landing gear!

Really glad that Airfix re-issued this kit . Thoroughly enjoyed building it in the 1980s and thoroughly enjoyed re-aquainting myself with this old friend building again in the last year . Being an experienced modeller I was not too concearned with the inclusion of paint/glue but see its advantage for the newcomer . Rather than complete in the low-level bombing camouflaged finish , provided for by the kit , I completed my model as a nuclear strike force bomber of the 1960s in overall anti-radiation white finish with aftermarket decals . A well-detailed kit that is a pleasure to build and a stunning model once finished .
