This is a great set for beginners. My 11 year old thoroughly enjoyed painting and putting this together. He did need help with some of the gluing and most of the transfers as they are incredibly tricky. He is using it as a toy(rather than a model) as he does with all his airfix and it's lasted well so far, a month on from being built! Any parts that fall off are said to have been the result of war. I would say this is an ideal starter set (you get everything you need in the box & it's not expensive) to see if your child is interested in the whole "airfix" idea. It has brought us an opportunity to work together and develop a new hobby that doesn't involve a games console!

This was the first Aeroplane AirFix model I ever made, I had made boats before, but never planes! It really brought back the feeling from when I made my first model, and was very easy, but still fun to make, of course the bonus was, that the paints and cement also came with it! After I had made it, I bought some more for my friends and family to have a go at, and nearly everyone enjoyed them, especially the first timers! So my verdict is that for first timers, or merely people who enjoy the fun of making AirFix models, this is great, but if you're a person who is looking for a tricky and difficult model to make, then maybe the Kittyhawk, isn't for you!

This is a kit from the early days of Airfix. Its a bit of a classic with the sharks mouth at the nose. As its an old molding i would not recommend it as a first kit, you will need filler in places. But its still an enjoyable kit and is quickly finished using the acrylic paints in the gift set. What more can you expect for the price. Go on and buy it, Then build it with your son or daughter, doing some research on this aircraft using the internet, with your kids will increase the enjoyment as well. Happy Modelling
