When I was around 9 I was a huge fan of Airfix model 1:72 soldiers. They were top of my christmas list & I got boxes and boxes of them from all my uncles and aunts! What made the battles so much more fun were all the diaramas, bridges & other airfix models...this d-day kit is the absolute pinnacle!!! A must have for any Allies vs the Axis powers reenactments!!!
I picked this up for my son as an easter present & he was completely over the moon with it. We sought advice from some of the model making forums on the internet about how best to paint & ended up heading over to halfords & buying spray paints!!!
During a very nice half term, my son & I spent time each day building this model & then spray painting the sea, the sand & making camouflage design of the emplacements - copydex works incredibly well for helping you get the lovely wavy lines for the camouflage pattern (another great tip from the forums!).
6 months later, my son still plays with it regularly & begs me to join in!!! Sure its not as much fun for a mid-thirties (cough cough!) man playing with soliders as it once was, but it is a great project for a father & son to spend quality time together & the end result was very impressive!!!
Can thoroughly recommend this to anyone who has a 7-10 yr old son!
