This kit is the first kit that i've come across at this price, where, you can get a good build result regardless of build experience. A new modeller can get a decent final product from an easy kit that's a good size (not too fiddly, though parental help will be good for kids!)and an amatuer builder will find it useful to try new building techniques. This is the first kit that I built and took the time to do properly, that is;
- Using filler for the join gaps,
- Sanding down the join lines,
- Applying primer to get a seamless build,
- A proper airbrush application of the paint (though i used some after market TAMIYA brand paint, much better!)
The down sides however are only 'down' depending how fussy you are on the final build. For example, the internal detail for the cockpit was lovely enough as an amatuer build though PE Eduard enhancements can easily be utilized if you so desire. As mentioned above, i also used some filler for the first time. This was mainly on the join between the wings/fuselage join which, although not perfect, provided a good easy filler exercise for modeller's not yet experienced at filling as the job wasn't too big. other than those two points the last niggle is the decals, i found these to be a bit awkward to bed down.
The main defining point for me though is that the panel lines are recessed! though i did scrape the starboard wing lines with a scribe to define them slightly more. Overall a good kit with flexibility for all ages and abilities. Plus Help for Heroes gets a donation!!
