I love Airfix as it reminds me of the toys we all enjoyed when I was a young girl. Unfortunately although I admired many of my friends Airfix models I didn't actually build any of them myself as they were not considered to be toys for girls. What a shame! My 10 year old is fascinated by Airfix, has joined an afternoon club at school and spends most of his free time assembling, glueing and painting his models which are then used in dog fights and simulated air raids over the kitchen. This model is particularly special as my father flew Canberra Electrics in the late 50's as part of his National Service in the RAF. It was given to my son by his grandfather and will take pride of place in the collection. The instructions are easy to follow and illustrations are good. Younger children will of course, need a bit of help with the glueing and painting. Our only dilemma is what to do with all the models once shelf space is used up - I suspect we shall have to start hanging them from the ceiling! My son has recently joined the Airfix Club and receives newsletters, catalogues and a 'passport' which enables him to trade tokens for models - highly recommended also.
