A brilliant idea to have working models dealing with our industrial heritage. But the working parts need to be more robust. And the parts that secure the working parts need much improved anchoring -to make it stronger I cut pieces from the sprue and stuck them on which should not be necessary.
This model is ideal to show children how early machinery worked but children are a bit heavy handed so the model should recognise this. Also a simple explanation of how the engine worked would be useful.
A good idea but not very well executed.

I had great fun painting and assembling this kit. It looks quite good when done. The kit is rated at skill level 2. I found it quite a challenge as a 50 year old so I think it would suit a teenager upwards. Only problem it would not work. The piston is out of line with the cylinder so it goes into it at an angle. It looks like the cylinder needs to be a few millimetres closer to the central pillar. It could be that the base moulding is out of line. I can't see that I have assembled it wrongly. I cannot find any reports of similar problems on the net. I would be interested to know if any one else has similar problems
