Product Description
H.M.S. Victorious saw action in every theatre during WWII. From launching the aircraft that found the Bismarck, through to supporting the North African campaigns, working with the U.S. Navy in the Far East and famously taking a major part in the destruction of the Tirpitz. HMS Victorious joined the Home Fleet on commissioning in May 1941 just nine days later her pilots encountered and attacked the Bismarck. On 23 May 1941, the new carrier HMS Victorious whose aircrews, despite their inexperience, succeeded in putting a torpedo into the battleship's midship section, which opened up a fuel tank on the Bismarck. After escorting convoys to Russia to mid-1942, she then took part in the North African landings in November 1942. After a spell with the US Navy (being re-named as the USS Robin) she resumed her former name, HMS Victorious, and returned to the Home Fleet at Scapa Flow towards the end of 1943. Early 1944 her aircraft participated in the attack on the Tirpitz. She then returned to the Pacific War, but this time as a Royal Navy ship.

I've just started a plasic modelling club as an after school club. We started off on aeroplanes which were very successful. One of my keen young pupils wanted to make a ship and after searching we found this which was just the right price. Ben was very confused by the tiny drawings on the instructions and even more confused by the fitting problems we encountered we had when placing the davits and guns. We spent a very frustrating half an hour trying to get the hull to fit the deck AAAARRGGH. Eventually (and I'm a fairly experienced modeller) we got a messy but recognisable aircraft carrier. Come on Airfix, delete the kit or replace it with something as well engineered as your Mig 15 kit (fantastic value!)
