Everything important that happens after that happens between the music and the listener; the rest of it is all mythology. The collective interpretation of it is way more important than ... 5.0 out of 5 stars More Tasty than Toxic 27 Sep 2011
Format:Audio CD
A Great debut album by this Los Angeles 5 piece indie rock band. Such an undersung band!

Some great mixtures of fast powerful songs and slow meaningful ones.

The track "Gasoline" was used by the Fifa 2009 game as one of there background tracks. More recently an instrumental section of the track "Sometime around midnight" was being used by the BBC for the 2012 games advert.

It's the only cd that's permanently in my cd changer in the car! The only problem with that, is that I tend to drive to the speed of the music!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding and underrated 10 Mar 2013
Format:Audio CD
Whether it be this album or All at Once it all comes together as a sublime indie rock collection. What marks them apart from other indie rock bands is the eclectic nature of their songs, and the sheers brilliance of the lyrics. You could say they are a bit derivative.. that sounds like The Clash, that one sounds like Springsteen etc, but so what - its all very very good. And 'Sometime Around Midnight' ('thats like The Joshue Tree') is a utter masterpice of lyrics and arrangement. A joy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! 27 April 2012

Format:Audio CD
This is absolutely brilliant! If you like Bruce Springsteen, The Gaslight Anthem, The Killers, Arcade Fire, Band of Horses...you have to have this album. I've just bumped into this band by accident - they should be truly massive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stuning Debut 10 Feb 2012
By Miles
Format:Audio CD
I bought this the week it was released and it quickly became my most played cd. An underrated LA Indie band, but well worth putting in you collection.
Some rocky faster tracks through to some more meaningful slower stuff.
No Guy can tell me that Somewhere Around Midnight, doesn't bring back memories

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant album 28 April 2012
By Kevin
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I heard this group covering a track on Chimes of Freedom and thought I'd give them a try. So glad I did. Not a poor track on the whole album. So good that I also bought their next one.
Music and lyrics are brilliant. Can't rate this band highly enough.
Will certainly buy any other releases and would travel a long way to see them live.
