DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU ARE ALSO BUYING A FUJIFILM FINEPIX REAL 3D CAMERA. The images produced by the camera are not compatible with this viewer and they cannot be easily converted to make them compatible. I spent some hours experimenting with stereoscopic software and although I concede that it might be possible to produce something that might work, it would mean expending a great deal of time and effort and the result would be a severely modified image very different from the picture that was originally taken.

I shall be returning my purchase to amazon for a refund.

Does work, but fiddly 23 Feb 2012
At first I thought there was something wrong with the one I received, as I saw double on stills however I moved back and forward and side to side while viewing. I have the Aiptek 3D i2 camera, so it wasn't a question of incompatible formats. However, a video taken on the same camera displayed pretty well, and I eventually realised that it simply doesn't like the subject too close to the camera. Some outdoor test shots with the subject matter at least 4 or 5 feet away displayed fine, with a good 3D effect. So not much use for portraits, not in 3D anyway.

I bought the frame to display scans of old stereo colour slides taken as long ago as the fifties. I can scan them with a digital slide scanner and assemble the images into what seems to be the side-by-side format this uses, but so far no luck viewing them in 3D. I will probably have to convert them with some software utility, as the Aiptek ones seem to be squashed horizontally to fit two full frames into one, whereas the old film ones are more like half-frame (three fifths frame probably) for each side.

The manual and quick guide are unhelpful, both saying you should press the on button for two seconds to turn it on, and press again to turn it off. Actually it is exactly the other way around- you press just once momentarily to turn it on, and hold for two seconds to turn it off. I dread to think how many other mistakes there are when they stumble at the first fence. Amusingly, the quick guide has translated the word "English" in the header for the English language section into the language of various other language sections instead of putting the word for those languages in their header- so the other languages are identified as "Engels", "Englanti", "Engelsk" and so on.
