Great roots music with wonderful songwriting!,
By K Sara Sara "catseye" (Nashville/London) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ain't No Fairy Tale (Audio CD)
After discovering Doctor Doctor, I had to buy the whole album. And I really like it. It is very much singer songwriter material, and the lyrics are first rate. I would say anyone who likes Louden Wainwright or Lucinda Williams, Nanci Griffith, Michelle Shocked, Gillian Welch will really get into this. It strikes me as a very honest record. Oh, and Joni Mitchell! Waif like vocals. I really like the singing because she gives so much emotion in her voice. Best tracks are Dad's Song (my dad died last year so this one means a lot to me), Doctor Doctor, Be an American and Slow Dancing. Fave fast one is the bluegrass kind of tune Goin' Home. Give it a try, it really grew on me!

Kick Ass Roots Genius!,

Awesome acoustic roots performances all over this album. Brilliant songwriting talent,
and exquisite musical stylings from both Boyd and Wain. Uncle Penn would be proud to play a breakdown with these two. It's so good to see that Roots and Folk are alive and well. Buy this album. It's a solid platinum collector's item. Folk and roll! |
