It is certainly getting covered with tiny flies, but not the white-fly or aphids I had hoped to trap, which is why I have given in four stars rather than five.

This review is not about the effectiveness of this product in catching insect pests - it is indeed sticky and bright yellow, and the enemy will no doubt adhere - it's about their manufacture and presentation.

First, why supply six traps and only three holders ? Mean ! But in any case, the holders are useless. If you're one of those who likes to leave an inch of space above the compost surface for watering, half the trap will be hidden behind the pot rim, because the holders aren't long enough - the whole has to be inserted in the soil to have any chance of holding the trap securely, and even then, if your compost is of the loose and open kind, the holders won't hold securely anyway, being far too short and thin. Getting the trap into the holder also requires a bit of force - meaning that if you've already peeled off the first protective strip, you have to grip the sticky side, presumably reducing its effectiveness... You're far better off making your own holders with green split canes and a pair of secateurs.

Secondly, the protective covers on the traps were in far too many cases erratically applied; so emptying out the first packet onto my somewhat dusty potting bench resulted in half the traps getting coated with dust on the exposed parts - in one case, half the trap. On the other hand, those covers that were accurately applied offered no purchase for the fingers with which to grasp and remove them quickly, as recommended; so if you don't have long sharp fingernails, you might be in trouble. These are double-sided traps, and if you happen to be particularly fastidious, you may not relish peeling off the second side whilst maybe having one finger on the still-sticky and already insect-coated other side.
