In brief, three things occurred. One, her father was accused of child abuse, two, her father-in-law was accused of child abuse and three, her daughter had a troubled period at school.
These events are swept over without managing to arouse any empathy for any person involved. The bulk of the rest of the book focuses on everyday events such as decorating a house, going on nice holidays, making tea...
I found the book boring and mundane and cannot see that it would stir any interest to anyone who does not know the author personally.
Most bizarrely is that the book is written in the third person and in a quite repetitive and childish manner similar to "Imi did this, Imi did that and then, Imi did the other," and so conveys the aura of a simple 'Janet and John' book.
I feel extremely generous in giving this book two stars and did so only because, maybe, if you are a relative, friend or neighbour of Imi Holland you may enjoy this book. I have no connection with the author and I did not enjoy it nor was I inspired by any of it nor was I unable to put it down and neither did I cry or find it fascinating in any respect.
Beautifully written, obviously straight from the heart. Thoroughly recommend 'Agony Of Lies' to everybody!
