beautiful 22 Oct 2011
Format:Paperback
a beautifully written, heart warming piece of literature. i caught an episode of mrs browns boys on the bbc and went to explore this history of the series. i was overjoyed at the list of books amazon had to offer, the mammy (now published as agnes brown), the chisslers, the granny and the young wan. by the time i had finished the books i felt anges was one of my best friends, the laughs i had with her at the kitchen table over a cuppa tay.
brendan o'carroll has tapped into this life of a hard working woman, showing the challenges facing widowed women, made it his own, showing how much love he has to give on every page.
there is also an irish tv show, further bbc tvshows, dvd's, a stage show and further books. all well worth reading/viewing.

book of the series 20 Mar 2012
Format:Paperback
The book was pleasant enough to read, but I was thinking it would be funny like the series, so I was a little disappointed that it was not as I expected. I did also buy the follow on books and again they were not really funny.more of a human interest story.

Buyer Beware! The publisher has renamed the original book in this wonderful series. If you buy or own "The Mammy", you do not need this book!

Enjoyable! 14 Jan 2001
By Roberta A. McQuillan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
If I could rate this book higher than a five, I would. I have never enoyed a book as much as Agnes Brown. I highly recommend it for a good laugh and a very endearing story. I also read the rest of the books Brendon O'Carroll wrote. I bought my books and when I finished with them, loan them to my friends to read. I wish he would write more, I look forward to reading them. Excellent is the word for Brendon O'Carroll's writtings. Thank you.

Formerly published as THE MAMMY 17 Feb 2000

This was one of the most delightful books I've read in a long while. I bought the book, read half of it, and went out to run my errands. I couldn't resist finishing it up while I was back in at the local bookstore. Agnes is colorful, honest, and hilarious. Hurry up with the other publications!
