I have just bought one of these as a Christmas present for the in-laws. I am sure they will forgive me when I say they aren't the most technically minded, so I was looking for something easy to operate and this frame is perfect.
The resolution is much the same as any 7" frame in this price bracket so no complaints there. It has a very handy remote control for all the operations, you can even turn the frame off with the remote and when you put it back on it will resume from the next photo.
The one thing I wish these frames did was a random (shuffle) slide show, no frames in this price bracket offer that feature though so I can't mark it down for that.

One area which I did mark it down though was this. The frame quotes a resolution of 480 x 234 pixels - I resized my pictures to 480 x 234 but when they were displayed they had black bands top and bottom. After much experimenting I found 480 x 270 worked perfect. This is actually at a ratio of 16:9 which was also mentioned on the box. A little more information in this area would have been appreciated.

To summarise - I am very pleased with the display quality and especially the user friendly interface.

Great value frame 8 Nov 2007
    Well, here's my story...

I spent weeks researching which frame to get my mum for Christmas. They vary so much in price/quality/brand etc...

I wanted to get a Philips, as they seem to get hands-down the best reviews. I just couldn't justify the price. Having visited all the major highstreet stores (Debenhams, John Lewis, Currys, Klick, Boots, Tesco Extra, Argos etc.) in seek of some display models to play with, I eventually gave up today, as not one - and as you are now well aware, I did try hard - not one store had a functioning frame on display.

So I took the plunge... I went back to the well-known catalogue store (who boast a no-quibble 30-day money back promise!) and bought 2 to try out - the heavily-reviewed "Linx" 7" jobby, and this one, the Agfa.

The Agfa wins, no doubt about it. Understandably, no frame with 480x234 pixel display (which incidentally the majority of frames under £80 are speced at) is going to look fantastic close up, but th Agfa looks a hell of a lot better than the Linx.

And it's so easy to use, even my mum will find it a doddle! Just stick in a memory car or PictBridge-compatible camera, and it starts the slide show. The remote is dead simple too - choose length of time the picture stays on from 5s to 60s, various stretch/pan/zoom modes, back and forward through pics, and rotate. That's it.

No setup menus or similar present - but who needs them, this frame is plug and play, litterly. The only reason I've given it 4 rather than 5 is that the pictures don't look amazing close up, but this isn't really a problem,.

Also, should you wish to leave a picture up for more than 60 secs, no problem, the frame has a pause button too!

All-round good buy, far better than the Linx, and I dare say many others in the same league...

    Hope this helps.

    Andrew

    Great xmas present
OK it's not the best quality, but for the price it is brilliant. Daughter loved it so much I got one for her Brother. Great way to show visitors a few pics before they get bored.
