This is Froese at his most relaxed and unbuttoned, giving free reign to his explorations of those unique Froese electronic soundscapes that draw you into a strange and alienated inner world. There's a tremendously consistant feel to the album, making it great for putting on repeat play. Play it loud and boogie along when the drums kick in, or keep the volume down and let its ambience permeate subliminally. This is what electronic music was all about in the mid-seventies, before "new age" and sampling keyboards sucked all the originality out of the form. Quite superb! Originally a double album, Ages is much more accessible as a single CD. Why it took Virgin so long to release it in the digital format is a mystery. I'd almost given up hope of ever seeing my favourite Froese album appear on CD. Wonderful to hear it again, it hasn't been out of the player since I bought it!
