Book Description

14 Mar 2013
Ageless Erotica is a steamy anthology of erotic stories and memoir essays written for a mature audience by writers over the age of 50. Edited by senior sex expert and advocate Joan Price, this collection is full of erotica seniors can relate to--embracing the agelessness of sexuality while still encompassing the changes that accompany aging. Some selections are tender and loving, while others are edgy and kinky. But whether characters are going solo, having spicy sex with partners they love and have loved for decades, or engaging in casual encounters, every story included in these pages aims to arouse and to rejoice in the sensual side of aging. A groundbreaking collection of erotica for seniors, Ageless Erotica is a stimulating celebration of the many pleasures of "well-seasoned" sex.

About the Author

Author and speaker Joan Price calls herself an "advocate for ageless sexuality." At age sixty-one, she wrote Better Than I Ever Expected: Straight Talk About Sex after Sixty to celebrate the delights of older-life sexuality. She followed that book with Naked at Our Age: Talking Out Loud about Senior Sex after hundreds of readers sent her questions about improving their own senior sex lives. Formerly a high school English teacher, Price is also a fitness professional and author of The Anytime, Anywhere Exercise Book. She teaches contemporary line dancing (which she calls "the most fun you can have with both feet on the floor") in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa, California. Price lives in Sebastopol, California. The short stories are well written. The content of the stories are untraditional. I think it is a very important theme Joan Price has aimed at.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breakthrough collection on a par with Girodias's Olympia Reader 25 Feb 2013
By Nancy Weber - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Full disclosure: I wrote one of the 29 stories in this fabulous collection of short fiction pieces & personal essays about us oldies doing it. But I have no vested interest in declaring my admiration for the book. The marvel of it is how un-limiting the rubric is. Yes, all the stories are about folks over 50, but aside from repeated references to gray hair, bellies, & pharmaceuticals, and a very welcome humanity reflecting editor Joan Price's values, variety is the thing. Isn't that news, and great news? Despite some of the predictable changes of age, we don't lose our individuality and get folded into a silver blur. Not only are older people having sex, we are engaging in all the permutations and combinations that spice younger lives. You'll find heterosexual married tenderness, gay lust on a park bench, dungeon doings with a sentimental twist, old-fashioned dating, electronic ecstasy: the all of it. The stories are long enough to allow readers to attach to the characters and short enough to let you move eagerly on to the next flavor. Great not just for boomers & beyond but also for younger adults dreading the future. Unexpected joys await you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome collection of senior erotica 25 Jan 2014
By avid reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is a comprehensive and highly unique collection of erotica for those of us of a "certain age," something very rare in the world of erotic literature. The stories are written with humor, compassion and of course, passion. Some include real people; others are written about the full spectrum of human sexuality. Author Joan Price has done a great service to seniors interested in erotica by compiling an excellent anthology of very readable and well written stories. Let's hope there's another volume in the works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Steamy and Delightful! 1 Sep 2013
By Adriana Kraft - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
If you're under thirty or even in your forties, you might never pick up this book, but you should. Ageless Erotica, edited by Joan Price, is a steamy collection of erotica by and about men and women over fifty. The book flies in the face of the notion that our sex lives have to diminish as we age, or that if we stay sexually active, we shouldn't talk or write about it. The stories offer hope for those under fifty and will bring smiles of recognition, laughter, arousal, and delight to readers old enough to identify.

I was impressed by the wide range of stories, characters, plots, themes and creative sex acts across the collection. There's solo sex, same and opposite gender sex, fantasy sex, married sex, pick-up sex, sex with a paid professional, a touch of kink - a little something for everyone, demonstrating that just as sex doesn't have to stop as we age, neither does creativity and imagination. We're told the authors range in age from fifty to eighty, and I take encouragement from that!

I did have some favorites. In "Invitation to Lunch," Donna George Storey offers a touching erotic lunch break with a married couple, spiced with a dash of fantasy exhibitionism. "Sex with him is like truly fine old wine, each year adding more complexity and mystery."

The theme of carrying a secret pleasure turned up in both "Other People's Stuff," by Susan St. Aubin, and "Jaguar Dreams," by Evvy Lynn. If you've ever wondered why old people are smiling to themselves, "Jaguar Dreams" will forever change your answer.

I also loved the open, tender married relationship in D.L. King's "Mr. Smith, Ms. Jones will see you now." Mr. Smith's wife is never on the page, but always in his thoughts through each iteration of kink delivered by Ms. Jones, whose first appointment was gifted to him by the wife unable to enjoy the kink she knows he needs. This story captures so beautifully the rewards an open relationship can deliver to the primary couple, under the best of circumstances.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oooh. Just What I Need Tonight 2 Mar 2013
By David M. Pittle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Wonderful collection of erotica for us left out seniors. I'm savoring each story. Something there for every taste--except those who believe sex is evil. Heh Heh. I would love to see it expanded into a website of erotica. Something like Literotica for Seniors.

I can see this book being part of a Joan Price trilogy. Better Than I Ever Expected, Naked At Our Age, and Ageless Erotica.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Ageless Erotica of The Highest Quality 11 Nov 2013
By Rachel Kramer Bussel - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Ageless Erotica is truly ageless; I'm 38 and this is one of the most soulful erotica collections I've read (and I've read a lot!). It succeeds because, even when humorous, such as Nancy Weber's "Something Borrowed, Something Blue," these stories have a ring of truthfulness about both the highs and lows of aging. From divorce to concessions to the physical downsides of aging, these characters find new ways to appreciate their sexuality and their bodies, as well as their lovers'. Here's a wonderful sentence from Weber that illustrates this: "And suddenly I was on my knees, and my tongue was all over her blueness, and my lips were playing wild music on it, and beneath my layers of tailored gray, my _____ was pulsing in tempo." (You can guess what the word I skipped is.) I especially appreciated the way long-term relationships are treated here, with care and the admission that they can change and grow over time. A hot, sexy and memorable read that is indeed for all ages who want to appreciate some quality erotica.
