This is a great game. The graphics look awesome on my iMac. But it does not run on OS Lion, only Snow Leopard. So my macbook pro won't run it. If it did it would get 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars WARNING: Mac bug 9 July 2007
By Zellinda - Published on Amazon.com
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I received the software quickly from the 3rd party dealer. When I installed it, there was a problem prohibiting the Standard User from playing the game, although an Admin could play. The User got a message saying a DATAPK file wouldn't load. I called Destineer; they were aware of the problem and were working on a fix. Within 24 hours, I received a courteous email with detailed instructions on how to configure the game properly.

Here are the instructions to configure AOE III/Warchiefs to run properly on Mac OS X:

1. Login Admin.
2. Find the original AOE III icon. Click Command+I to "Get Info."
3. In Get Info, go to Ownership and Permissions. Click Details. Under Others, select Read & Write from the drop-down menu. Close the AOE III Get Info window.
4. Control+Click on AOE III. Select Show Package Content. This opens a Finder window containing a Contents folder. Click Command+I on the Contents folder to Get Info.
5. In the Contents Get Info window, go to Ownership and Permissions. Click Details. If the System is the Owner, then change the Owner's name to the Admin Username. The group should then become Admin. Go to Others and select Read & Write from the drop-down menu. When the system asks you "Are you sure you want to apply the selected owner, group and permissions to all the enclosed contents?" click OK. Close the Finder window.
6. Now go to the AOE III/Warchiefs icon. Click Command+I to "Get Info."
7. In Get Info, go to Ownership and Permissions. Click Details. Under Others, select Read & Write from the drop-down menu. Close the Warchiefs Get Info window.
8. Control+Click on Warchiefs. Select Show Package Content. This opens a Finder window containing a Contents folder. Click Command+I on the Contents folder to Get Info.
10. Logout Admin. Login Standard User and make sure the game loads correctly.

Big thanks to Matt H. at Destineer QA for the help!

5.0 out of 5 stars OUT STANDING !!!! 16 Oct 2009
By Shawn O'brien - Published on Amazon.com
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I purchased this game after an epic fail with Civilization. I must say I got just what I was expecting. The game plays smoothly on my macbook pro and "War Chiefs" it makes the game that much better. A lot of these games sell expansion packs separate so just like the prevues review states make sure you get the original (AOE III) first. Once you get the game and /or expansion pack installed sit down and get ready for hours of addicting fun. By far one of the best RTS Games out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars The ORIGINAL homeland security team 21 Nov 2008
By Ham Salad - Published on Amazon.com
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
If you're tired of only being able to "hire" the indians, try this expansion. With this expansion, you can defend the homeland with one of three different tribes, Aztec, Iroquois or Sioux. The gameplay is the same and the units are similar, but some of the unit upgrades are quite different.

Try it out and show the white man who's boss.

My 13 yo son is totally addicted to this game. He would play for days at a time if we let him. It seems harmless. He's been enjoying it, previously on a PC, now on a Mac, for over a year and has not lost interest.
