5.0 out of 5 stars very good game 31 May 2004
A couple of years back I realised that I had made one of the best decisions of my life, to Install age of empires two, age of conquerors. This game is still stunning, even to today's standards, You can play it out as the Aztecs and even the Japanese, but this game still has a very good sense of originally that comes with it. You cant really compare this game to some modern games, that quite frankly, are rushed, and can't even live up to the standards of age of empires two.
Like its predecessor, age of kings, age of conquerors, still has the amazing features that still make it a very playable game. Age of conqueres spans from the early Vikings all the way to the, well lets say, the early gun powder age. From the early beginnings of a town centre, with all but four men, you have to battle the games intelligent AI, or play a multiplayer game against your adversary (enemy), over a network or LAN.
Your four men consist of three villagers and one scout. The villagers are the heart of you empire, collecting the four main resources, wood, gold, food, and stone, and one which doesn't really count as a resource is the population limit. Another vital Unit is the Military Unit; you have to keep up large force army of special units, including several new unit types included in this game. Your military forces are your only protection from the deadly enemy that lurks amongst the map to find and fight you, death to the knife! Or you can play differently to win; you can win through economy, religion and of course, military power.
The Buildings are also another main and essential part of your empire, letting you upgrade your current set of units, or buildings, to release whole set of new upgrades to improve and to make you empire efficient in every way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun game 2 Nov 2004
I originally started playing Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome at a friends house, well it wasn't really a play it was just watching my friends sister play it, she didn't trust me or her brother. Anyway I thought it looked good so I downloaded the trial version of the game and I played it constantly. I absolutely loved it so I got the full version. Then when AoE 2 came out naturally I got that, great fun, loved it. Then eventually after I managed to find some money I got the expansion pack. I don't really play the campaigns, mainly due to the fact that stuff always seems to be deleted of my computer so I just play online games with a friend, great fun when we do role play games. i Also enjoy building up a massive base in minutes and crushing the computer player >:D. Anyway I highly recommend this game due to the replayability of it. You can just play random maps over and over building your skills or play over the internet, download other players custom levels or even make your own. There's always something you can do with this game , it's not a game with just a beginning and an end and after that you just put it down. There is no end to this game, you can play on until your hearts content

'Age of emprire is the best game ever! nothing can ever beat it!!!' i said when i had a.o.e II. Then i got a.o.e II expansion! wow! It brings a.o.e II to a new level. it gives the game more excitment, more power more action!!!
In a.o.e II the conquerors you get many upon may diffrent units and also new civilisation- The Mighty Aztecs, Cunning Mayans, Rich Spanish and the Horde of Huns! Each with their own unquie powerful unit:- Aztecs- Jaguar Warrior (bonus damage v infantry) Mayans- Plumed Archers (not very strong, but very cheap!) Spanish- Consquators (Powerful hand cannoneers on horse back) and Mercanaries (Monks in a way) Huns- Tarkens (mighty horsemen with bounus att. v buildings)
And whats more, each civialisation get their own new unique technology!!!
So all-in-all It is a game worth getting!
