DVD Description

The Agatha Christie's Poirot - Set 1 DVD contains four discs and covers the entire first series of the hit TV show "Agatha Christie's Poirot". Set in the 1930s, the award-winning period drama stars David Suchet, who plays a quirky Belgian detective named Hercule Poirot. The series is written by Clive Exton, but based on Agatha Christie's classic crime stories. Meticulous in his work as a private detective, Poirot exercises his "little grey cells" to help the police solve crimes and murder mysteries, whether they request his services or not. Captain Hastings, Poirot's side-kick, is played by Hugh Fraser and Phillip Jackson plays the role of Inspector Japp.

If you're collecting episodes of Poirot, be aware that there is a set of 'SEASONS' (12 of them) and a set of 'COLLECTIONS' (there are 8 'Collections'). I suggest you stick to one set or the other, then never the twain shall duplicate...

Poirot begins 4 May 2008
This first collection contains the following episodes;

Season One 1989

The adventure of the Clapham cook
Murder in the mews
The adventure of Johnnie Waverly
Four and twenty blackbirds
The third floor flat
Triangle at Rhodes
Problem at sea
The incredible theft
The king of clubs
The dream

Season 2 1990 (first four episodes)

Peril at End House (part 1 and 2)
The veiled lady
The lost mine

The series begins strongly and gets even better as it progesses. Perfect casting, acting, continuity etc.

Suchet and the rest are all perfectly cast. Drama done to perfection.

Poirot Series 1 30 Aug 2009
By Ezzie
It took me a matter of a few days to watch the whole of series 1 because it was so good. In my opinion, the best episode is Peril at End House because the plot is cleverer and there are more twists than in the other episodes. The weakest episode (in my opinion) is The Veiled Lady, where the opposite is true - a weak plot; not one that you need to use your 'little grey cells' for! I can't wait to watch series 2.
