Agatha Christie Classic Mystery Collection [DVD] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC
My Wife and I collect everything Agatha Christie - so we certainly wanted to acquire this set, as it seems to be the only way to get the Peter Ustinov TV adaptions of Dead Man's Folly, Murder In Three Acts (Three Act Tragedy) and Thirteen For Dinner (Lord Egware Dies). Having nnow rewatched them, whilst these are all reasonable, personally, I don't think they are a patch on his "proper" films like Death On The Nile (a bit too razzamatazz for me at times).
The three Helen Hayes Marple films are quite good - she plays Miss Marple fairly well in my opinion - though she doesn't appear for long (or very much) in Murder Is Easy.
The other two non Marple and non Poirot films are pretty good as well, and complement the set perfectly.
In another review, "vera" gives you a brief overview of each film (thanks vera), so I will not go into any more detail here.
Overall, not a bad set at all - and I might be underscoring it just a little... but I must admit that the "Americanisation" of them did spoil it just a little bit for me (having gotten used to the perfect David Suchet and immaculate Joan Hickson).
This is a region 1 collection and costs a fair bit really - mind you, overall, I am still glad I got it.
