Brilliant, insightful, carefully constructed argument that will make you think twice about switching on the machine. A great read, very entertaining and sure to upset many internet nerds (oops, sorry disciples)

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 7 Sep 2008
I hoped for a stimulating read. Instead I found an argument that seemed to me unbelievably loosely formulated, shoddy, and inconsistent. It's just one long grump. It also seems to me discourteous towards many of the people cited. Siegel seems to doubt the sincerity of many commentators. His treatment of Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point is a travesty. Gladwell's book is lucid, entertaining, carefully and rationally structured: Against The Machine is none of these.
