Format:Audio CD
I can't understand other reviewers who have said it is dull and sounds like Jean Michel Jarre. They obviously weren't around in the late 70's and earlier 80's to know where Marc Nguyen Tan gets his inspiration from. If you like Suicide, Joy Division, Modern English and other such bands from this period then you'll love this album. It's a close contender for my album of 2003. The bonus DVD is OK, not stunning, but I think the inclusion of such discs is an excellent idea and one that more artists should adopt.

Whilst the opening track 'Crazy Love' catches the attention immediately with its echoes of Joy Division's 'Heart and Soul', the whole albumn will provide a varied and lasting appeal.
Electronic rythyms merge with tribal drumming. New Wave guitars sit perfectly alongside synthesized noises and melodies. Over this moves the detached and often minimal vocals. Quite simply, I think it's brilliant.
The Bonus DVD is just as significant a revelation. The film for 'Crazy Love' is one of the best videos of all time, with the austere animated running figure again evocative of a flailing Ian Curtis. THe other videos however, are equally impressive. Brave in their originality and back to basics simplicity. No lame shots of musicians playing their instruments, no meaningless, clumsy attempts at pop rebel narratives, just art, plain and simple. The final track on both the CD and DVD, 'Colder', evokes the best of the early Human League with more than a hint of Kraftwerk, with wonderful abstract video to match.
In summary - as a Joy Division fan living in the techno age, I can't recommend this CD and DVD highly enough.

an album for people who like a certain amount of detatchment, in an electronic sense, to their music. The album is indeed cold but interesting. Probably one for Joy Division, New Order fans.
