Biography

Motörhead's overwhelmingly loud and fast style of heavy metal was one of the most groundbreaking styles the genre had to offer in the late '70s. Though the group's leader, Lemmy Kilmister, had his roots in the hard-rocking space rock band Hawkwind, Motörhead didn't bother with his old group's progressive tendencies, choosing to amplify the heavy biker rock ... Product Description

Product Description

Limited digipak edition. 2013 release, the 21st studio album from the British Hard Rock legends led by bassist, vocalist and Rock 'n' Roll animal Lemmy Kilmister. Recorded at NRG Studios in North Hollywood, it is a true leveler, a crushing confirmation of everything Motörhead stands for, marching from the dust storm to deliver 14 belting statements which see Motörhead in perhaps their best writing form for years. There's swagger, there's punch, there's speed and there's dirty filthy grooves, Lemmy, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee showing clearly that Motörhead is not simply a band, it's a genre!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lets go to Mexico baby! 21 Oct 2013
Format:Audio CD
This album is fantastic, thank you Motorhead for delivering this great rolicking album! It starts off brilliantly with 'Heartbreaker' an uptempo piece that features great riffing from Phil, a nice solo, good drumming from mikkey and the standard gruff vocals from Lemmy!

All of the songs are great! No filler here! 'Going to mexico' is a great rocking tune that serves up images of an outlaw going to Mexico to escape the police, or perhaps to evade the woman in 'Queen of the damned', to live a life of drinking in bars and living in brothels... only to get the whorehouse blues! (perhaps I have an overactive imagination). 'Do you believe' is a superb rock n roll anthem ("rock n roll do you believe"!? growls lemmy) that contains a sublime riff from Phil and some great solos. The track 'Silence when you speak to me' contains an almighty riff (sounds almost like an AIC/Jerry Cantrell type riff) and sees Lemy at his most cynical where he declares "we are all liars" maybe aimed at the government or beurocracy in general. And 'Keep your powder dry' is another nice anthem that contains a wonderful guitar solo!

The album finishes on a high with another up tempo number in 'Paralysed' where Lemmy tells the allegory of him chasing gold in the jungle (surely a metaphor of the career he's had where he has no regrets) where he quips "You'd do the same if it was you"? indeed in his position I would have tried to bed 10,000 Queens of the damned, with an ugly face or not, who cares, even though we might end up with a knife in our backs! It would have been worth it, goddam :) but there is always the whorehouse in Mexico to fall back on...

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful musical noise 17 Jan 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I think that most normal humans are genetically hard-wired to love Motorhead. Our ancestors probably sang their classics at the Battles of Hastings, Crecy, etc. It is chest-thumping rock hysteria and 'Heartbreaker', the album opener, is a great statement of intent. It continues with 'Coup de grace' and is relentless throughout. A unique band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Classic 16 Nov 2013
Format:Audio CD
This new album is such a cracking thumping record from the guys. I was Apprehensive waiting for it to arrive as I hadn't bought a Motörhead CD since I heard 'don't let daddy kiss me' which I thought was a load of pump, but this one is one of the best crafted records of all time and their sales prove it. Lemmys voice is getting more strained but it's 40 years since the bugger started and he doesn't let up even now. I won't review each song as I'm not a scribe but the addons with it are great. The magazine, I couldn't put down and don't know what to do with the sticker.
Anyway, enough twaddle. Just buy it, you won't be let down. Magic.
