Afternoon tea is always a treat. Teatime should begin with Sandwiches and Savouries - delectable savoury morsels that range from Finger Sandwiches to Blinis with Horseradish. Cream and Caviar - Scones and Teacakes features some new takes on old classics, such as Blueberry Drop Scones with Butter and Maple Syrup. For the ultimate indulgence, tuck into Fancies, such as Orange Tuiles with Flaked Almonds. Finally, Cakes are the crowning glory of any tea party - just try the Victoria Sandwich filled with Cream and Strawberries.

3.0 out of 5 stars For armchair cooks 7 Jan 2011
Format:Hardcover
A rather thin and small book with 50% of the pages taken up with glossy full page pictures. The recipes are, in the main, for sweet dainty nibbles. They range from the boring ( scones) to the weird ( blinis with wasabi or baby rarebits with beetroot and orange) to the plain silly ( finger sandwiches - sandwiches cut into fingers!). In my opinion, a book for those who like to look at pretty recipe books with arty photos rather than actually cook or bake anything. There are one or two interesting ideas but in my opinion one to borrow from the library rather than buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy Peasy 6 May 2013

These are straightforward recipes, not too complicated and with much wow factor. Although I did read the Chelsea Bun recipe too quickly and forgot to let it raise a second time... My husband still ate them and thought they were delicious...
