5.0 out of 5 stars Tea Pornography 26 Dec 2011
By Andy
Beautifully produced book with excellent pictures. Good size for the glove box and a strongish cover that could've done with a built-in bookmark to make it perfect. Massive amount of information about a very large number of tea rooms throughout England, Wales and Scotland. Also contains articles on producing tea in all its forms and maps and guides to some excellent walks. Perfect for touring and getting to know nice places to sup tea in unknown areas. As the other reviewer says it's a shame it hasn't spread its net more widely to the tea rooms that are more 'off piste' (if they exist) but in most areas of the country you will find something, if not several spots, to refresh and any more would possibly make the book too large. Maybe a regional set of books would give scope for more. Superb value from Amazon at just over a fiver.

Bought this as a present for my sister;

Very disappointed with it as all the entries I were so obvious;
I had hoped it would show light on some less well known tea-rooms making it a little adventure for an outing or two, instead all the ones within 20 miles or so are already well known.
The book would be better if smaller areas had been researched really well and given some less well known tea rooms a bit of publicity!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tea treats 25 July 2012

This book is sectioned to cover counties to include five or six recommended tea shops in each county. The book is a handy size with a bendy cover which makes it easy to use, I like its style. It also gives some interesting walks where you can finish up at a cream tea place to indulge. Great for buffs who love afternoon tea and like to travel around.

4.0 out of 5 stars AA - Prefect Places for Afternoon Tea 21 July 2012

I expected a guide covering the whole of the British countryside listing Tea Rooms in secluded villages. However; with only one Tea Room listed in the whole of Lancashire and almost 40 entries just for London, including several expensive hotels, ie: Browns Hotel - Afternoon Tea @ £39.50, this seems to be more of an exclusive guide to members of "The Tea Guild", rather than someone looking for a decent cup of tea & a bun.

I can get more info from the internet by just typing "Lancashire Tea Rooms" which has 34 entries - most of which provide afternoon tea for the price of this guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars from a tea fan 15 Jan 2012
By A. Dean
This is a well illustrated book, with awards given to outstanding tea shops, and an index that lists by place as well as name. I like the fact that there are occasional walk suggestions as I usually have a cream tea after a day's hiking. I am looking forward to working through as many suggested tea shops as possible......and find I have tried four already . Yum !
