3 astronauts return to Earth and discover it destroyed by a Nuclear war and a gang of ruthless outlaws are taking over what is left of the country killing and abusing everyone who the meet.

Entertaining low budget Post-Apocalyptic by actor/producer/director/editer/writer Steve Barkett (and according to the credits most of his family). For such a low budget the film actually looks very good, there are obvious matte paintings and miniatures but neither detracted from the overall bleak atmosphere that penetrates the entire film. Acting is surprisingly good Barkett and his real son Christopher are a real highlight, the story is nothing new but the action and pace movie fast and hold interest throughout, Sid Haig makes for a chilling gang leader. The soundtrack is a bit of a distraction at times as it seems to play constantly as is the narration which goes on a little at times.

Very similar to later film Def-Con 4 although this does play better. The violence/gore in this picture is not that bad, there is an exploding head and more gunshot wounds than you can count but it isn't too graphic, there is a fairly violent sexual attack sequence that must have made sure of its inclusion on the section 3 nasty list. Overall a decent watchable little sci-fi/chiller that just doesn't have enough to make it a cult classic.

Great Independent Film 24 Aug. 2010
By c. david casebeer - Published on
I first discovered this movie at my local rental shop when I was at Texas A&M back in 1996. I rented it and watched it with my friends. We all fell in love with it. You can imagine how happy I was when I found it for sale. I is a strong showing by a man (Steve Barkett) who had a vision and made it happen. I highly recommend you watch it if you are lucky enough to get your hands on a copy.

A Favorite 26 Jan. 2013

I first saw this movie when I was 11. It's always been one of my favorites. It's about some astronauts returning to earth after a year long mission in deep space and they've been out of contact with earth. In that time World War 3 and the nuclear holocaust have happened. One of the better 80s post apocalypse films. They have to fight mutants and the evil gang led by the cold blooded and fierce Cutter, played by the cult favorite Sid Haig. A must for lovers of this genre.

not a zombie movie but still decent 6 Sept. 2003
By Dave - Published on
The movie starts off when 2 astronauts go back to earth from space to find out that there was a WW3 and nuclear stuff and all. They find biker gangs going around torturing women and killing men and children and then run into some zombies. Then it goes on until the biker gangs killed a girl one of the astronauts loved and he seeks out vengence for the death of this chick, some other chick, a little chick and some dude. Will anyone survive THE AFTERMATH??????
Ok! That's it! I'm sick of these people saying "oooo, they battle a lot of mutants and zombies ooooo" and yet this movie only has like 7 of them. This movie does not focus on zombies at all. Mainly it's about surviving the AFTERMATH and a battle between the astronauts and the biker gang!! BUT, I'll admit, this was not a bad film. If you don't look at it as a zombie film, then it's good. This movie is also called ZOMBIE AFTERMATH but what's the idea of calling this movie ZOMBIE AFTERMATH when it doesn't focus on zombies, hardly at all. Can we say FALSE ADVERTISMENT????
