Exotic and entertaining this book is a window to the spiritual culture of Goa; this Indian state which was a Portuguese colony. The story takes place at the reunion of a local family who's cosmopolitan members share stories on the surnatural and the obscure. Through these well crafted stories we get an insight into the deeply rooted catholic culture that still influences Goa today. The Ghost stories are varied and lively yet fit well within the overall flow of the book which is probably why it works so well ; interesting short stories that you can read in an evening embedded within a more complex family story that will reward the reader at the end. Everyone will come out with something after reading this.
Ms Faleiro's first book is a promising start and I hope to read her future as soon as it is published. I highly recommend it.
