I was really moved by this story. It was beautiful and yet gripping. I was instantly drawn into the world of the prison and a roller coaster of emotions. I ended up reading it in one go - I just kept wanting to know what was going to happen next.

I fell in love with both Leah and Jean, and I didn't want their story to end. The love scenes were tender, passionate and sexy.

I wished I'd been able to read this book when I was coming out as it deals with parental reactions to sexuality in a realistic way.

An interesting undercurrent of ethics and politics pervades the work without being preachy. Well researched historically without overdoing the detail. Authentic atmosphere and good pace.

The journeys of the other characters, like Amy and Marge give the story a 3-dimensional quality.

A thoroughly good read that I would recommend to anyone who likes a well-told story about the heart.

I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait for the next one from this author. It could happen to any of us, and I am sure it already has. Deeply moving in places, happy, sad, and tender moments. A story of forbidden love, prejudice, passion, desire..... I couldn't put it down once I started reading it.

Absolutely loved this ... really worth the low price for such an emotional roller coaster of a story.

Not particularly in to this genre but that didn't make any difference. I got straight into the story and couldn't put it down.

Not ashamed to say I shed a tear or two!

Certainly worth a read ... go grab it now.
