Sophia Blackwell has written a heartbreaking, yet often funny, account of a young woman's oddysey through London life. The reader is taken to strip clubs in Soho, bars in Hackney and upmarket cafes in Muswell Hill in the pacey and exciting narrative. Full of sensual detail it is honest about sex and relationships but never voyeuristic. The memorable, often flamboyant characters are convincing and believable as we are shown their emotional vulnerabilities. Evie, the narrator, has such a strong engaging voice that I really did not want this story to end! The book will continue to give me pleasure though as it is beautifully designed throughout and the clean, modern lines of the cover are a work of art.
