I have picked this book up at model shows many times and put it back because of the price, I don't mind paying tens of pounds for books but they have to be worth it and this one never hit the mark.
I saw it on amazon for a reasonable price and bit the bullet, after studying the book I have to admit I was wrong, this book is worth the original cover price.
It is only when you have had the time to study the photos at length that you realise the depth of information they contain.
My hobby is model building, I have an extensive library of over 500 books and this is one of my favorit purchases, if you like it buy it.
If you have not seen the inside of the book before, it covers mainly troops but there is a good portion of vehicle images about 45% of the book.
the photos are stunning, true colour they look like they were taken yesterday, they truely bring WWII to life and are a must to anyone interseted in the Africakorps or WWII or model building.
Highly recommended, I only wish there was a vol 2.

A well-presented reference book on Rommel's Afrika Korps army during World War 2 with excellent candid shots of the troops in their day-to-day activities in the desert. I especially like the non-standard uniform choices depicted for the various ranks in the Afrika Korps and the "lived-in" details for the various vehicles depicted in the photos. An essential reference for all WW2 modellers especially if modelling figures is your forte. 5 thumbs up !!!!!

Lots of beautiful color photos of the Afrika Korps during WWII

I have paged through this book many a time at a local shop here in Colorado. As much as I wanted to buy it, the price was just too darn high (about 3x more than that which Amazon has it priced at). Although in all fairness Amazon didn't even have this book in stock until recently. The book itself is just great, full of large color photos of Rommel's desert army doing their "thing". This book has been on my wish list for over a year now and is sure to be a favorite of any military/WWII buffs book shelf. I would pick it up while you can!

Adjustment to the Credits

This is merely an update to the credits for this book; Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. logged this title in the Library of Congress as "Bernd Peitz with Gary Wilkins". However, this was incorrect: I did write the glossary, but in fact my overall role was translator, not author.
Of course, I'll rate it 5-stars.
