Afrika/ Hakuna Matata 29 April 2011
Fun:
Afrika is only avaiable from Asia and America. It is a photgraphy and wildlife game, if you are not interested in that this game is not for you. During the game you are sent emails to your computer, these emails include missions which ask you to phtograph an animal doing a certain action. You are given a grade for each photo you send off and for higher grades you recieve more money. With money you can buy new equipment or more photo storage. There are over 60 animals to survey, with 5 different environments and there are 101 missions to complete.
At the start of the game you choose your character and you are sent on your first safari. For the first few missions you are driven to the places you need to go by a guide, but as you progress through the game you are allowed to drive wherever you want. The camera you first start off with is not very good, it has poor quality and short zoom. But as you progress through more missions new cameras and lenses become availiable to buy which are very good quality.
The controls of the camera are very easy, you hold R1 half way down to focus and then fully to down to take a photo, simpley tilt your contoller vertical to take a vertical shot. The controls are very easy, there is even a camera manual to show you how to take more advanced shots.
The aniamls are fantastic, the graphics are suberb and the animations are extremly life like. There is a wide vareity of animals including Elephants, Giraffes, Lions, Baboons and even Okapis. Each animal is found in a different environment. When you need to take a photo of an animal you need to approach quietly and hide in bushes as the animal can run off or even charge at you. When an animal charges as you, you are sent back to base camp and lose all the photos you took that day. Also there are night safaris.
Some of the missions you are asked to do require you to take a photo of an animal with the sunset in the background, this takes a lot of patience to get the right timing, however the game is very relaxing. When you send a photo of a new animal in reply to mission you unlock information and real footage of that animal, which is footage supplied from National Geographic. There are also certain missions which involve hunting and even the famous wilderbeest crossing of the masa river. Afrika also has online features which allows you to post your best photos online or enter them in competions.
Overall Afrika is a fantastic game for wildlife and photography fanatics, it is a very relaxing game and the attention to detail is brilliant.

Crap 2 Sep 2011

Fun:
The concept of the game sound fine, that's why I bought it instead of multiple negative reviews online. It is original as it offers safari photo hunt as gameplay. But the way it is done is just depressing.

Among the good points I shall mentions
- over 100 missions listed in the game description
- some originality as there is no other similar game yet (well, Cabela's games look the same but no one offers a photo hunt
..and that's it...

I can write a novel about all bad things I found there.

First, graphics are very under average. Unnatural colors, if you played Cabelas hunts, it's in the same style. Some landscapes look very nice while far away but when you reach the point it's really disappointing.
Next, Indiana Jones music is annoying.
THe gameplay is very annoying. You spend a lot of time waiting for a good shot (photo), that's understandable. But driving to the location and back takes even longer. And you must go where the guide drives you, always with him if you want to succeed with the missions. You are stuck around his car and if go any further, you repop by the car with your "teacher" remining you every time about your bad behavior. If an animal beats you, you lose all the photos in your camera so you must save often, this means you must drive long way to the camp, spend lot of time saving. YOu will receive new missions on your virtual email, but it'll be around 1 mission per day and if you do it quickly, there is nothing else than kill time or send your "hero" to sleep and then pick up another mission next morning... Rince and repeat...
Saves is another story. Have you ever heard of the save file of around 300Mb? Here you have it. Can you imagine how much time the game takes to load, to save and.. to install? If you decide to buy it be patient with installing, your PS3 won't freeze but will install the game for hours.

To sum up: BORING, UGLY, HEAVY and SLOW. It is impossible to enjoy this game as there are too many obstacles to it.

Avoid. Worth not more than 1 p.
