A thought provoking and beautifully written book. Owen Burnham obviously writes from his heart and paints a magical scene from page one. I felt a sense of calmness wash over me each time I picked up this little gem to read. I particularly enjoyed the author's descriptions of his extraordinary personal experiences in Senegal. His upbringing makes him feel things in a different way to most of us, which is our loss.

This is a fantastic book. It offers an excellent insight into the spiritual beliefs of 'the old ways' in Africa. Even if you do not necessarily believe all that is written, it is so beautifully written that you could not dismiss it. Food for thought, thoughtfully written and keeps the reader's interest throughout. I would recommend this book to anyone who fancies reading something unusual in the non-fiction genre.

This book is a beautiful look at another culture usually hidden away from the western world. It celebrates reverance for nature and for our anscestors, which is something the world could definately use.
