Format: Audio CD
An excellent introduction to jazz for the wary . The setting is an excellent big band playing clever and sometimes rousing arrangements by Ernie Wilkins and Bob Brookmeyer . Only Cannonball and his brother Nat get any solo space . The title track is catchy and clever with the whole band sounding like a joyful herd of elephants approaching a water hole on a fine morning . Be warned - the section for unison flutes on this track sounds screechy and , unless you have good speakers , you may think that four gentlemen of the night are sitting in the front garden serenading a fertile queen .
