5.0 out of 5 stars All in one! 30 Oct 2006
Hello from Greece,

This book has a rather deceptive title... "African safari photography".

Well the truth is that this book is not a strickly photography book cause the author includes inside a lot of information on how to organize a safari trip, where to go, which National Parks to visit, when is the best time to visit, what to watch out when you select your tour operator ect.

There is of course a part of the book which focuses on wildlife photography tips and hints but this is not the main part of the book!

My advice is that you should definitely buy this book cause it provides valuable information for anybody wishes to do an African safari and has little or no experience regarding this type of trips BUT if wildlife photography is your only concern then his very first book "Wildlife Photography" (also available on Amazon) is a better-pure photography choise.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pretty pictures but not much substance 5 April 2008
By Doggoneit - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I was hoping for a book that would instruct me about taking wildlife photography in Africa, including suggestions on techniques for setting up better shots, advice about what kind of equipment is best, and tips for avoiding dust and vibration issues mentioned in safari guides. This book was repetitive and shallow. It had big print with very little text, and it duplicated in much less detail safari guide information on which parks have which species. It was totally lacking in the photographic advice I was seeking. Yes, it had some pretty pictures, but with the text printed over them, it is not even a good coffee-table book.

Extreemly good photography & explanations of where to go & what to see, with how to place & photograph the animals. Enjoyed the book, a must before going to Africa for photographing.
