4.0 out of 5 stars Good african disco 7 Nov 2007
By Mailian
Format:Audio CD
Compiled by DJ Adrian Gibson (Jazz cafe) these 10 tracks fuse disco with african poly-rhythms by mainly Nigerian artists. The best known track is afro-beat originator Tonny Allen's Afro-disco-beat and Ephraim Nzeka brings 2 interesting covers of Fela Kuti hits: Shakara and Zombie.
The best tracks are the instrumental Asheo ara by Kabballa, the joyous Kaloule woman by Malinga Five and the familiar melody of A.I.E by Black Blood. All in all a good and interesting overview of how, after soul and funk, disco was reafricanised.
