Good News from Africa 25 July 2006
Format:Hardcover
I have had a copy for about two weeks and already treasure it as a very practical work coming from the hearts of born again African Christians. Having visited a few churches and some child centred projects in Africa I recognise the God dependency, compassion and urgent cry for justice of those who have contributed. I'm sure that we in the west have much to learn from our African brothers and sisters and this book, coupled with the relativley brief but deep fellowship I have enjoyed with Christians in Tanzania, Sierra Leone and Senegal will deepen my own awareness of God and my walk with him.

On a very practical note the book is well laid out, is not heavy and the font is very readable

I purchased this commentary a couple of weeks ago after dithering about whether I should or not. From some of the sections I have read so far I am very impressed with the sensibility of the work and have found opportunity to gain inspiration and solace from its contents.

I am not a mainstream Protestant and I share in the Catholic scepticism of pedantry and blind fundamentalism that seems to be the backlash to the burgeoning secularism that is decimating the church in Europe. This is a commentary on the Bible entirely written by Born-again Christians in Africa and it is surprisingly relevant to European Christians, and notwithstanding some criticism from the Catholic Church in Africa, I do not feel any Christian who is truly seeking to understand and apply the teaching of Holy Scripture in their lives should ignore it.

Go on.. buy a copy and surprise yourself, it isn't expensive.

From Africans for Africa, an excellent one volume bible commentary. Non-africans too will benefit from its insights. With African cultures being closer to the ancient world than is the West today it gives a different perspective from the usual commentators. Very good value for the price.
