Excellent 'Quilt-like' patterns. 1 July 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have recently purchased this book and I can't wait to get started on the afghans within. Especially the Old-fashioned Fans pattern. Most of the patterns are crocheted in pieces and sewn together to make them look more like quilts. There are plenty of of patterns to go around for different gifts for family or friends. The instructions are easy to read even for beginers.

Something to please everyone 8 Jan 2000
By Azarina - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I was taken with this book from the moment I looked through it. It has a diverse selection of patterns, and some very unusual ones (one of my favorites is a children's blanket crocheted and then embroidered with ponies which have tassles for tails--clever and appealing!) Several of the patterns are decades old and have been successfully updated for this book. This is my favorite collection.

Afghans for the older set 5 Jan 2005
By domestic girl - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I purchased this book based on the rave reviews, but after looking at it I think I will return it. The inside cover reads that the patterns are based on the best patterns collected over the past 60 years -- and they're not kidding. The book is a collection of patterns published by the Red Heart yarn company. The patterns are, in a word, dated. When I heard "crochet classics" I thought it meant timeless, but actually it means "old fashioned." I'm in my late 20's and I like simple, modern designs--this book just wasn't for me. Although a few of the patterns are very nice, the majority of the patterns are not to my taste. The book does not only have afghan patterns, but also also a few hideous 80's sweaters.
