I have searched high and low for a good Afghan cookery book with no luck,Persian cookery books are more Iranian based, but this is the one. Apart from everyday Afghan recipes, the author provides recepies for all occasions.As you can imagine not all ingredients are easy to come by outside Afghanistan but Helen Saberi comes up with great alternatives that are easy to find. The only let down is that it looks more like a novel and so is awkward to use whilst cooking. Nevertheless I still highly recomended it.

After I search alot for an afghan cooking book ...... this is is what i want finaly my husband eat every thingg I cook without a single word ..realy I spent 2 month in afghanistan but I didnt learn alot and when I tried to cook the taste is something ( eeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhh ).... but now the taste is nice and the alternatives for ingrediant is wawwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Mashallah very good book. Husband -who is Afghan- is loving my dinners now- and has a real taste of home! Food is such a pivotal part of family life there. The meals are so much value for money too-enough to generously feed my large family!Kids love it too!
Was really impressed with he extra info on culture and history too,was a nice bonus :)
