About the Author
AESOP probably lived in the middle part of the sixth century BC. A statement in Herodotus gives grounds for thinking that he was a slave.

This is a great little book, for a very fair price.
I'm sure many of you know this already, great to read back over the stories from years and years ago!
Contains around 210 little stories with the moral written underneath. It has a little introduction too!
For the price, you've got nothing to lose!

great book, cautionary and informative...
but unfortunatley the pages 97 and 100 were not printed on... whoops!

I wanted to read Aesop's Fables and this book looked cheap and cheerful -
I didn't expect great quality of paper or cover, and that is fine. Nor was I surprised or particularly off put to find some of the pages had got a bit of the ink from the opposite page, but I was surprised to find pages 101 and 104 just missing (they are just blank pages where some of the fables should be - the fable numbers and page numbers clearly skip either side of the blank/missing pages.
To be honest I quite like the way the book is, it has a kind of charm being so basic! But missing pages is just too much for me. I would love to explore and buy a number of the other penguin classics books like this one but the thought of missing pages in them just holds me back from making a purchase - cheap as they are.

Again i was conned by the display picture, the cover is different than in the picture, so if you want this certain edition of the book i recommend that you buy fro somewhere... Read more

Aesops Fables
Very efficient service - book not quite as good condition as hoped but it contained all the well known fables that I remember from my childhood.
