5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read, 9 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Aenir (Seventh Tower) (Paperback)
Tal and Mira continue their quest together although they have very different agendas. Two powerful shadow creatures have joined them although this seems to have destroyed Mira's chances of fulfilling her ambitions. I like Garth Nix's writing style it's not stilted like so many fantasy books. However I was not so happy with the presence of the magical quest object which is an unnecessary convention for such an imaginative author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving the series, 22 May 2009
By Bobbins (London, UK) - See all my reviews
Loving the Seventh Tower series - the only draw back being that they're too short and having to wait a couple of months for the next one to be published. If you're a fan of Garth Nix don't be put by the fact that they are short, they are vivid and exciting, and will just make you appreciate the next chapter when it's released - roll on June.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like a fine wine...., 5 May 2009
...It has only improved with age. while no real improvement on the original 2001 Release. the continuation of Tal and Milla's journey through Garth Nix's universe seems much more exiting this time round.

then there's the 'face in the lake' cover art this bizarre image sets it apart from the ever more minimalist covers that surround it. This is also a good representation of the surreal world it contains. everything about it is a change of pace, or rather a welcome return to a familiar one.

whilst all Nix fans should give it a go, it is a must read for those of you who enjoyed the Old Kingdom series (Sabriel and it's sequels).
