As a Classics undergraduate, I think this is the best place to get familiar with the key site plans and images for the aegean world. I love owning this book because it means I always have the picture or case study I need on hand when writing essays. Nowhere else can you get such a range of full-colour pictures and diagrams.
The text is also sound, but I would recommend it only as an introduction or for quick reference. It has a very particular scholarly axe to grind, about modern minds affecting how the aegean past in particular has been approached. This is a crucially important point but I found myself wanting more and went to find other books. Which is what an introduction is supposed to do, I suppose!
However, a strength of the book is coverage of the aegean from as early as the late neolithic.
Overall, for undergraduates I would recommend using this book in conjuction with the cambridge companion to aegean prehistory. The companion has better text but the pictures provided here are more extensive. Also, whereas the pictures in the companion are only black and white, this book is full colour- important for understanding frescoes and recognising pottery types.
