Product Description

Product Description

Featuring ads in cyberspace, this book looks at the best campaigns on the web today. This second installment in Taschen's advertising series joins "Advertising Now! Print" and the forthcoming "Advertising Now! Films" to provide a complete study of commercial communication in the world today. Divided into chapters by subject (from food and beverage to electronics, clothing, and more), this tome examines the most effective and important online ad campaigns by exploring the work of the globe's top award-winning agencies, including DM9, Tribal DDB, OgilvyOne, LOWE Tesch, and 2020 London. With each chapter containing an article from one of the agencies, you'll learn not only what the biggest campaigns are, but also what it takes to create them. From Nike to Coca Cola, FIFA, and the WWF, these are the ads that are defining the face of online advertising. The book will come with a DVD featuring the navigation of most of campaigns as well as interviews with creative directors and films produced for the internet.

I buy a lot of Taschen books about online websites and I love their Icon series, but this has already become my firm favourite.

As you would expect from Taschen the book is beautifully produced on quality paper - over 400 pages in length and includes a DVD featuring many of the websites featured in the book. The larger page format makes it easier on the eye than the smaller Icon series and correspondingly heavier!

Even without the DVD the book is inspirational, but with the DVD you can put the disc into a domestic player and watch the websites shown in the book being navigated. The DVD has menus and is subdivided into categories and chapters that relate to the book sections.

If the book were a cake, it would be delicious, but having the DVD adds the icing. The two together are a fantastic product.

The DVD has been my first port of call - it takes away the tedium of clicking for myself and I can investigate the sites in the book when they have caught my interest on the DVD. Seeing both static pictures and the website in action is really helpful.

I'm not really into print, but this volume tempts me to buy the companion print volume also.

A great resource at a great price.

(The description might lead you to believe that there are interviews on the DVD - there are not. The interviews - essays - are printed in the book.)

I didn't find this book useful at all and the accompanying DVD is simply awful.

The book is well presented and has a nice look and feel but it's definitely more a coffee table book then something that you could refer to for any inspiration, tips or help in advertising. It has plenty of examples of online campaigns however each example is accompanied by only a few lines explaining the goal of the campaign which isnt very useful since you can have a great ad but if it doesn't appeal to your target audience then it won't have results - this information is needed - who the ad was intended for, how it was successful etc.
Every day we experience advertising in the sense of where ever we go we are being advertised to and thus you don't need a book to show you ads - you only have to turn on your TV, check your emails or go outside for plenty of examples of ads good and bad.

Would not recommend.
