Product Description

Incognito celebrate their 25th anniversary year with Adventures in Black Sunshine, an album that's one of the strongest they've ever recorded. Led by Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick, the highlight of the new 14-track album is the return as vocalist of the fans' favourite, Maysa Leak, on seven cuts, including the forthcoming single "Listen to the Music", a stunning remake of the Doobie Brothers hit, and another likely single, the Brazilian-flavoured "Everything Your Heart Desires". Key band members include Matt Cooper, Dominic Glover (JTQ, Katie Melua), Nichol Thomson (Jamie Cullum), Graham Harvey (George Benson, Maysa Leak) and former Sade backing vocalist Tony Momrelle. There also is a special cameo keyboard performance from the legendary George Duke. Another feature of the new album is the inclusion of several outstanding instrumentals, evoking the jazz-funk era when Incognito started--tracks include "The World Is Mine", "The Principles of Love" and "Beyond the Clouds".

I always approach a new Incognito album with both excitement and hesitation. Being such a huge fan of this amazing, mainly British band (that were largely responsible for the explosion of the Acid Jazz scene in the UK along with "The Brand New Heavies"), I can't wait to get my hands on their newest material.
Over the years, I have however occasionally been disappointed with new releases. You see, I like my Incognito tracks a particular way - catchy riffs, mind-blowingly beautiful instrumentation, soulful vocals, occasionally danceable - all do it for me. Some of my favourite tracks of all time include "Nights Over Egypt" and "Wild and Peaceful" (from No Time Like the Future), "Stay Mine", "Worlds Collide", "There Will Come A Day" and "Castles In The Air" (from Life, Stranger Than Fiction), "One Hundred And Rising", "Too Far Gone", "After The Fall", "I Hear Your Name" and "Barumba" (from 100 and Rising) and "Living Against The River" (from Beneath The Surface - one of their best all-round albums to date in my opinion).
I don't like a lot of the material on Incognito's earlier albums, but thankfully, since their 1999 release "No Time Like The Future", Incognito has delivered a string of exceptional albums. "Adventures in Black Sunshine" is another album I will be listening to over and over again.
From the moment I heard the opening piano chords of "Don't Turn My Love Away", I knew I was going to be in for a treat.

I had just come back from Rio when I heard "everything your heart desires, and the quality and coolness of the vocals by Maysa it must rank as one of the most uplifting songs I have ever heard! The uptempo version of the old "listen to the music" is just knock-out stuff, along with the whole of the album in fact, Bluey just keeps on doin'it over and over again!
I wont appologise as im a massive incognito fan, and if you were dissappointed in the previous albums as some people were critical, This one will bring you back on track.

After being a fan of INCOGNITO for so many years, I come to find that Bluey has done it again. I can buy an INCOGNITO album with confidence of knowing that I won't be dissapointed. Don't believe me....? I ordered the latest album "Eleven" which will arrive shorty in the mail next week; and I never heard the album except for one song which happened to be an instrumental and I can't wait for it's arrival.
