Product Description

Accident-prone Gorrin the Gnome is awakened from over 350 years of slumber by the destruction of his cosy home. Gorrin realises that he has been asleep for a long time, but he is not sure exactly how long. He resolves to search for his long lost family, and, with his magical backpack, sets off to find them. Gorrin soon discovers that society has dramatically changed and technology has greatly advanced while he has been hibernating. Abiding by the Gnomic Code, Gorrin triumphs over adversity using magic, having many adventures along the way, as he learns to live in the 21st Century.

4.0 out of 5 stars A charming childrens book, 9 Mar 2006
By
This review is from: The Adventures of Gorrin the Gnome (Paperback)
This is a charming story for children! The character of Gorrin is beautifully painted, and his adventures (or quite often, misadventures!) bridge the gap between modern life and the morals of a 17th century gnome very well.
Andrew Singleton manages to combine a tale of a misplaced magical character, with some real knowledge of how canals and their users work in real life! I learned a lot about life on the water whilst reading this tale.
Good triumphs over evil, Gorrin succeeds in the face of adversity, and the scene is set at the end of the book for a sequel. A lovely book for children of all ages!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Adventure Book, 21 July 2006
This review is from: The Adventures of Gorrin the Gnome (Paperback)
The book was the best book I have ever read. It did get a little confussed in someparts but then everything was explained. The discription words were brillient. It made me feel like I was there with him, I could get a good picture in my head of what it would be like to be Gorrin. I was really happy for him at the end.

Hurry up and publish the next book !!

What a fantastic first book from Andrew Singleton...I eagerly await the next tales of Gorrin! A totally enchanting and well written tale about a wonderful character called Gorrin the Gnome and following his adventures to find his family. Set in well known and real places, well described...a real treat for youngsters and adults alike.
