This book contains a grab bag of items of varying quality. You will love the expanded selection of magic items - and these make the book almost a must-have. Many, many items and most are interesting and many better proofread than those in the PH. But there are no real surprises there. This is about 80% of the book.
The rest of the book is not quite as good. While the section on mounts and vehicles is nice, its not likely to be used a lot. And the section on new masterwork armors and superior weapons create more problems that they solve - in particular the double weapons are problematic.

Incredibly useful book, definitely the first expansion any 4th Edition player should consider (at least until PHB2, MM2 and DMG2 are out).
The book covers hundreds of different magical items, with far more varied and interesting powers than those in the PHB.
Also there are several completely new categories of magical weapons, as well as dozens of new mundane weapons, mounts, and vehicles!
A great book that benefits all classes and races equally (as opposed to "Martial Power" which will make your Divine and Arcane players feel neglected...)

Has TONNES of stuff that you can use. A Lot of which probably should have been in the PHB but I guess breaking things down into more books makes more money but also means that only 1 person needs to invest in a book.
